Chithiram – a collection inspired by Raja Ravi Verma’s paintings

chithiram

Chithiram is an “art to wear Jewellery collection” by Sayuri that has been inspired by the Paintings of Raja Ravi Verma; a Prince among Painters and a Painter among Princes.

Raja Ravi Verma

Ravi Verma is particularly noted for his paintings with pauranik imagery and depictions of women from different walks of life in all their glory. His paintings are considered to be among the best examples of the fusion of Indian traditions with the techniques of European academic art. He made art affordable with his calendars and playing cards, which became instant collectibles.

This collection of jewellery, from Sayuri, attempts to portray the resplendence of his paintings in the form of wearable art. The collection is Kitsch, quirky and fun to wear. Advocating the need for Eco and sustainable design this collection celebrates ordinary everyday objects by such as paper clips, sunglasses which have been transformed into delicate pieces of jewelry.
