Jewelry care tips

Recently one of my clients and a Sayuri Loyal came to me for some tips in taking care of my mixed media jewelry. As started talking to her, (she had many more queries) I realised that lot of my customers might have the same doubts or questions with regards to jewelry care and created these PSAs and posted them on my Facebook page. I then got a few requests to post them on my blog so that they can be pinned for future reference. So here they are the first 6 Jewelry care tips from Sayuri.

TIP #1: Always let your jewelry air dry for sometime before storing them and wipe gently with a dry tissue or cotton cloth is required. I wont recommend wet wipes as they may spoil leather, metal or mixed media jewelry

tip 1
TIP #2: The best way to store beaded (strung) jewelry by keeping it flat and straight. Twisting will increase tension in the wire causing them to kink or weaken
tip 2

TIP #3: Wear your jewelry last after putting on perfumes and lotions and after they have been absorbed by your skin for the chemicals in the cosmetics hasten jewelry discolorations

tip 3
TIP #4: If you are confused between choosing shanks for rings – I suggest that you pick wire wrapped or soldered right size ones for everyday wear and glued on adjustable ones only for occasional wear
 tip 4

TIP #5: I recommend storing leather or even fabric leather separately away from metal jewelry

tip 5

TIP #6: This one is particularly for Indians who hate to see their silver dull. Get your silver jewelry glazed or sealed to keep then shiny for a longer period

tip 6

I hope you would find these tips helpful. I will be posting another such tip series soon. If you have any jewelry care related queries please email me/post in comments and I’ll try and answer your questions in this segment.
