Sudya collection – Vermeil line

This year, I have been holding back on posting my own work in this blog as there was too much of it last year and I started feeling very narcissistic, so I have been focusing on other people’s work instead. But it time to do a little unveiling of my own work – My Sudya collection of precious and semi precious jewelry. I did pick a few pieces to for the St.Patricks day showcase but here is the full unveil, Line by Line.
The first, the most important and the most expensive of the three lines in Sudya, is the Vermeil line of Jewelry. I specialise in necklaces, but this collection is geared towards earrings as I was getting earring requests for some time now. They are all cocktail earrings, meant to be worn with dressy clothes like – cocktail/evening wear dresses or sarees.

Heartfelt is a long cocktail earring that can be quite a head turner piece. It symbolises (raw) passion and the spores on the sapphire along with the bronze charm add an ethnic feeling to this piece.

Juliet drops –  VER 16 – DG

Then here are the Juliet drops I featured in my St.Patricks day post, Extremely simple and elegant these are a classic, best worn with an updo and a Bateau neck.  In the yellow version, which features beautiful chalcedony stones I
have used rose gold earhooks for a tonal gradation effect

Finally, Pink Lotus Princess earrings – Inspired by the Pink saree of Goddess MahaLakshmi as she sits on a lotus. I had made two of these which sold out as soon as I made them.

Unfortunately, I had read market wrong, people seem to prefer gold studs than danglers, atleast locally.The only stud in this vermeil line, incidentally the first piece I created in this collection, belongs to my mom. The Serpentine beads keep it extremely lightweight and working well with most silk sarees.

So Thats the new vermeil line – how did you find the designs? Do you think I should make more in the future?
Doing Precious jewelry was a big, bold step for me in a different direction, though I didnt make every piece by myself like I usually do, I spent a lot of time, money and effort in conceptualizing, sourcing and coordinating with different suppliers and artisans to get it done – which is much more difficult to do than just making them. I learnt a lot of lessons in waiting, teamwork, photography during Sudya, I really hope it does well.

I Will post Silver and gold plated line in parts as they are quite big.
