I also found more stuff like these- Two pairs of earrings which I have worn once and never again because it doesnt show on my ears. Next a one gram gold necklace which my mom bought for me ages back and it had almost blacked out.

You see most Indians like shiny stuff – whether its gold, copper or silver. We can tolerate Antique finish to an extent, but we really dont get things like patinas or oxidized stuff. Its accepted on silver to a certain extent, when its in the form of Tribal jewelry, but otherwise darkened jewelry is frowned upon.
Well we could have just gotten it dipped again but then both my mom and me are not very fond of this necklace so didnt feel like spending money on it again. So when I a read a fellow blogger’s spot on coloring her stone jewelry with nail enamel, I thought, why cant I do the same with this.
So I brought out my color bar nail enamel – a dual – silverish gold and tried it out on the smaller earrings first. It worked and they looked considerably brighter. then I did the whole necklace. The result is for all to see.

I am not sure if gold on gold or silver on silver will work!! Also if try this out only with a good brand polish and apply only a single coat on metal
Excited with the result, I tried using color enamel on the earrings….the green one looks fabulous now. The picture doesnt do it any justice. Once I finished it and showed it to my mom, she showed me an AD that can come in the paper for Diamond and emerald jewelry and it was almost the same design….LOL!!! To think that I got it almost for free…:) 🙂 I used Elle 18 green color bomb and sealed it with a clear polish
Finally, I used a cheap rose nail paint on this one and blended it with a little lavender (its not visible in the picture) and I sealed it with a clear polish
It looks a little more glam and spicy now but I still think that the style doesnt suit me too much. Maybe I’ll change it one of these days
I am really in the mood for some nail enamel these days and I am working on another recycling project that uses it. I will soon be back with the tutorial of the project once its done.
Another thing which I just want to verify…to people who follow my blog through facebook – Are you able to see the blog/page updates on your home screen.
