Sterling silver beaded necklaces

Sterling silver necklace

If you are a silver and gemstone lover, you would love these Sterling silver necklace from my Sudya collection, arent they colorful, Bright, airy and summery??

Blooming lotus necklace

Shiny 925 sterling silver lotus pendant with a natural smoky quartz drop enclosed in sterling silver strung together with pink, blue and green dyed jade rondrells, agate and serpentine beads. This necklace is very special to me as its design lies in a childhood experience.

I don’t remember how old I was when this happened but we had gone to fancy hotel for a meal and I happened to see a curio shop there which had shelves of jewelry. One particular design that caught my eye. It was a multi stranded necklace of faceted beads and crystals in graduating colors (pink, red, blue and green). I was fascinated as that was the first time I was seeing jewelry that was not gold, silver or just costume pieces. This one looked expensive and spelt designer. I later came to know that it was a very common design, you can see it across jewelry stores and malls in India. Nonetheless, to me, for a very long time, it was symbolic of designer jewelry.

This multicolor blooming lotus is a tribute (in spirit) to that, moment in life, I’ll always remember.

Rangeen mor – colorful peacock

Inspired by the colors of holi and splendor of peacock this beautiful necklace has a 2.5″ sterling silver filigree peacock pendant on a colorful wrapped silk cord accented with pink wooden beads and green serpentine beads. This started as an entry for a contest held by Handmade and beyond. As I was working on it, I was drawn to silk thread jewelry – something  I had abandoned years ago. I am currently working on incorporating it in my next collection and it would hopefully do well due to the new found (and fast growing interest in silk in the west). A post on sari ribbon coming up real soon.

I hope you find it interested
Cheers

All so gorgeous – that first one (lotus) is so great with the beautiful spectrum of colors – my favorite of the three. So you were mentally drawn to jewelry even as a child? Now we understand you!

Oh I was majorly drawn to jewelry as a kid – I used to wear matching accessories for almost all outfits. Whenever I bought a new dress I would make sure I bought matching new earrings, bangles, clips something even slippers…lol Thankfully I stopped buying after a stage.:)

Every time I see fiber used in jewelry, my hands start itching – I am so drawn to it but still shy to use. But this post inspires me to experiment with my stash of fabric, mostly thrifted, clothing included 🙂

They are all amazing, but the blue/green one is just the perfect piece for summer!

Silk thread is a good starting point when it comes to using fibre, its still traditional but also whimsical. Stay tuned for my post on sari ribbon later today. It might help you
