Thamara by Sayuri copper jewellery collection

During the innumerable zoom meetings that I attended in the last four months, I realise that a lot of women wore statement earrings or short necklaces compared to any other jewellery. It shows how everyone is following “Above the Keyboard Dressing.” Many a time, I too have dressed up my shorts and TShirt look with a nice pair of earrings to look presentable on screen. that’s how I got the idea of a light weight ATK jewellery collection. Made up of earrings and a couple of necklaces, Thamara by Sayuri is for those who love handcrafted, economical and gorgeous jewellery. You can see earrings and a necklace set from this collection on my post on textured copper jewellery here. This entire collection (including ones on the link given) are for sale. Contact me to buy as we are open for shipping again!

Thamara by Sayuri

Thamara (Thaa – ma- rah) means copper and simply put Thamara by Sayuri is a collection of copper jewellery by Sayuri. In this collection, I have used a lot of textures. I have used techniques of hammering, fold forming and ruffling to create them. To keep the pieces lightweight, crystal or gemstone beads have been wrapped to the base or suspend from the handmade connector. The ear hooks are also handmade using either copper wire or rose gold artistic wire – which is basically plated copper wire.

Inspiration for the collection

My inspiration for this lightweight collection came from leaves and bark of trees. Leaves also lend themselves well to techniques such as fold forming and ruffling. You can see it in two such leaf based earrings in this collection – the lotus leaf earrings and form folded leaf earrings.

Form folded leaf earrings

These are Form folded copper leaf earrings with pearl finish Murano glass beads wrapped with artistic rose gold wire. These are longer than all the other earrings and by far the heaviest because of the bead used. It is light enough to wear all day and night. As you can see from the images, the leaves are sealed to retain the patina with a glossy finish.

Lotus leaf earrings

I used patina inks for colour in the Lotus leaf earrings and bark earrings that you see here. The front and back of the Lotus leaf earrings can be flipped. Therefore, please inform me while ordering and I can change it for you if needed. The leaves are about 1.5 inches long and are looped together along with shell pearls and metallic seed beads.

Bark earrings

To create this pair, I first made charcoal fingers using textured copper metal sheet and coloured them with patina ink. Then I wrapped blue crystals of two different shapes using rose gold wire for a true contrast. Most Indian women have brown or black hair, so when I tried it on without the artistic wire wrap, it did not look great on me. But by adding the contrast of colours and textures, it looks truly spectacular.

Benefits of Copper

Copper promotes well being, good health and calmness. It supports your immune system and helps in absorption of iron and production of red blood cells, according to WebMD. It helps keep a check on frayed nerves. furthermore, it helps relieve pressure on the veins and nerves. While I do not have scientific proof of the same, it has worked for me for several years. It is said to promote cardiovascular health and slow ageing. Copper is a naturally reddish metal and is used to make rose gold. Hence the use of rose gold colour in this collection as well. Thamara by Sayuri hopes to capitalise on these benefits of copper by offering jewellery that is much needed in these times of illness and chaos.

As I mentioned once before, all the pieces are for sale and can be shipped anywhere within India immediately on payment. Check out my video on Instagram on how to take care of the copper jewellery that you buy.

I hope you found it interesting
Cheers

I love this copper textured collection, Divya! Adding patina effects makes items even more gorgeous! Indeed, it is believed that copper dishes keep water clean from molds and bacteria and it is recommended to drink such water to stay healthy 🙂

yes, that is why water was traditionally stored in copper pots and tumblers. Thanks for your feedback and appreciation as always
